Asahi Kasei Corporation, a leader in developing high-performance UVC LEDs, today announced the Klaran™ Reactor series, the only third-party tested and validated out-of-the-box water purification technology for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in Asia. Powered by Klaran UVC LEDs developed and manufactured by Crystal IS (NY, USA), the Klaran Reactor series delivers reliable, true UVC disinfection performance for use in countertop and under-the-counter point-of-use water disinfection products.

Traditionally, water purification systems have relied on mercury lamps for the generation of UVC energy and light for disinfection. However, due to annual replacement requirements and their encumbering size, the industry has moved to UVC LEDs thanks to their durability, accenting design capabilities and longer lifetime. Klaran Reactors are less than half the size of a typical UV disinfection system and deliver the lowest cost to the consumer for microbial safe water. In addition, Klaran UVC LEDs last the entire life of the purifier, over years and tens of thousands of liters of water. As a result, OEMs achieve superior performance in a smaller, more design-friendly footprint.
“High-performance UVC LEDs provide a more advantageous UV light source, and as a result, our Klaran Reactor series delivers the most effective disinfection for consumer products,” said Larry Felton, CEO of Crystal IS. “Similarly, the Klaran Reactor series offers the fastest path to incorporating UVC LED disinfection into product designs, ensuring OEMs remain as equally innovative as they are safe.”
Additional features of the Klaran Reactor series include:
- On-demand maintenance-free UVC performance: The on-demand operation of the Klaran Reactor series enables for the complete unit to operate for the full lifetime of your consumer product – capable of capacities up to 20,000 liters.
- Scalable, customized performance: The unique design of the reactor allows for OEMs to design around a single footprint across their product portfolio and use the flexibility of the LEDs to adjust disinfection performance to specific product needs.
The Klaran Reactor will be on display during Aquatech China, Asia’s largest event for water technology, taking place 31 May to 2 June 2018 in Shanghai, China. To learn more, visit www.klaranled.com/cn or stop by booth #7.2H.216 during the conference.
