Bright prospects for 2010
That bright glow on the horizon is the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair 2010 (Autumn Edition). Over 1,780 companies from 31 countries and regions exhibited at the 2009 fair. This 13% increase over the previous year follows a pattern of steady growth since the fair was introduced, building it into the largest of its kind in Asia, and the second biggest in the world.
Switched-on industry
The lighting industry is at a very exciting stage in its development. Lighting is now recognised as a vital element in interior decor, with thousands of buyers eager to see new designs and assess fashion trends. And lighting is playing a key role in the move to reducing the carbon footprint of companies and individuals. Again, buyers are avid for ‘green’ lighting products. The Autumn Edition delivers on both fronts with specialised zones which highlight your products and make it easy for the right buyers to find you. Hall of Aurora made its debut in 2009 to acclaim, showcasing branded products and collections in a beautiful setting. Over 300 companies from 23 countries and regions, including some of the biggest names in the industry, participated in the debut Hall of Aurora. LED Lighting zone caters to the industry's fast growing sector as demand for environmentally-friendly products races ahead. Some 440 companies chose this zone in 2009. Green Lighting zone gives great exposure to exhibitors of other lighting products and technologies which aim to reduce emissions and/or which use ‘green’ materials. Specialist exhibitors will find their market niche in zones which include Household Lighting, Commercial Lighting, Outdoor Lighting, Lighting Accessories, Parts & Components, as well as Lighting Management, Design & Technology.
Stars of the future
The 4th Hong Kong Lighting Design Competition offers an opportunity for design talent to shine. The winning entries in the Student and Open groups will be on display during the fair.
Knowledge and networking
The Autumn Edition makes a contribution to industry knowledge by hosting seminars on a variety of topics, from product design and market trends to new technological developments. Opportunities abound to make new contacts as well as greet friends in the various networking events associated with the fair.
International reach
The Autumn Edition is known worldwide but there are always new buyers to reach out to, and Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) does this through its wide network of offices in many countries. HKTDC also organises buying missions from countries and organisations of strong buying power but with relatively unexploited potential. In 2009, 3,494 buyers from 49 countries and regions were brought to the fair on 69 buying missions.
Close to the action
The location of the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) is in Wan Chai, the commercial heart of Hong Kong. The expanded Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is a world-class facility, easily accessible to dining, shopping and entertaining outlets. Courtesy e-mail centres, free shuttle bus, business centre and a wireless environment are just a few of the fairground facilities and services offered by the organiser. |
