Reportedly, Taiwan LED manufacturer Unity Opto Technology, is expected to become a major supplier of LEDs for backlight modules to a Chinese TFT-LCD panel maker, Beijing BOE Optoelectronics Technology.
Unity Opto will build a new plant in Beijing in April, with the new LED facility expected to have a monthly capacity of some 200 million LEDs by the end of 2011.
In addition, it has also begun shipping LEDs to another major Chinese TFT-LCD panel maker TCL.
