U.S. startup Axentwear’s new cat ear styled headphones are bound to turn eyes and put the wearer in the center of attention.

Founded by two Berkley alumni, the cat ear headphones was inspired by co-founder Wenching Yang’s artwork, which gave birth to the headset design.

Not many details are revealed about the LEDs used for the headset, except for the fact RGB LEDs were not incorporated, so changing the color according to mood is pretty much off the list. Axentwear revealed due to technical difficulties using RGB LEDs would make the headphone colors less distinctive under sunlight. Additionally, the use of RGB LEDs would require a bigger battery, which would make the headset much heavier.

The headphones currently come in four color options, blue, red, green and purple. Statistics from their Indiegogo project indicate the blue and purple headphones have been the most popular, each with more than 1,000 backers. The project has so far successfully raised US $748,899 out of its goal of US $250,000.
