WOFI was acquired in 2013 by Taiwanese LED manufacturer Everlight Electronics Co., Ltd.

Nichia's lawsuit against Everlight also covers WOFi Mercur series products.

In the lawsuit, Nichia is seeking permanent injunction, rendering account and damages based on its newly-granted YAG patents EP 2 276 080 and EP 2 197 053. Nichia believes that WOFI's products Orbit / Serie 946 – Art. Nr. 4946.04.01.0000 and Mercur / Serie 313 – Art. Nr. 4313.01.01.0000 infringe the German parts of EP 2 276 080 and EP 2 197 053 and that in addition WOFI’s product Laurids / Serie 889 – Art. Nr. 4889.01.64.0000 infringes the German part of EP 2 276 080.
