According to the Chinese-language Commercial Times, Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) reportedly has seen its LED notebook panels enter the supply chains of Dell and Hewlett Packard (HP).
CPT declined to comment, citing client confidentiality, the paper said. But the maker said it had been in talks with clients over the supply of LED notebook panels, which were now being validated, the paper added.
CPT has been gearing up for the LED market. Last June, CPT said it expected to launch LED-based 15.4-inch LCD notebook panels by the end of 2007. A month later, CPT was said to be supplying 15.4-inch LED notebook panels to Dell.
Last month, CPT was said to be in talks with LED maker Everlight Electronics over the possible establishment of a new company for LED deployment.
CPT's affiliate, Sintronic Technology, a supplier of cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL), also plans to establish a new plant to make LED light bars and package LEDs for use in small- to medium-size LCD panel backlight units (BLUs).
