Microsemi-CMO team-up delivers LED TV design

2008-05-22 11: 33

It's reported that Microsemi Corp. and Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) have partnered in the design of an advanced TV backlit with RGB LEDs. The system is on display at this week's 2008 Society for Information Display Conference in Los Angeles.

CMO has designed a high performance large-screen TV utilizing advanced LED drivers based on Microsemi's Digital Advanced Zone Lighting technology. The TV supports the scanning backlight mode for backlight LEDs (1-D) and the zone dimming mode (2-D) as well. The scanning backlight mode reduces motion blur phenomena. The zone dimming mode, in addition to reducing motion blur, offers enhancement of the contrast ratio and provides reduced power consumption.

"We have been pleased to cooperate with CMO in their advanced TV design," said Steve Litchfield, Microsemi executive VP and president of the analog mixed-signal group.

"Partnering with Microsemi has enabled us to offer leading edge LCD panels for advanced TV systems," said Chung-Kuang Wei, CMO associate VP of technology development head division.
