Optoma to Launch World`s First LED DLP Projector at 2008 End

Optoma Corp., a world leading vendor of own-brand projectors, is scheduled to start delivery of world`s first household LED (light-emitting diode) DLP (digital light processing) projector at the end of this year, according to company sources.


The new projector is built with Texas Instruments` DLP chips and advanced technology and features 1080p high-definition projection. Besides, compared with conventional models, the projector cuts electricity consumption by 30% and, without bulbs can save users considerable money on maintenance or bulb, filter replacements.

Developed jointly between Optoma and U.S.`s Texas Instruments Inc., world leader in digital signal processing solutions, the LED DLP projector was recently unveiled by the latter at InfoComm 2008, a tradeshow of AV (audiovisual) and information communication systems that ended on June 20 in Las Vegas.

In addition to the LED DLP projector, Optoma is also scheduled to launch a mini mobile projector in the third quarter of this year, which adopts the newest DLP PicoTM chipsets and can link with mobile phones to project images at sizes between 20 and 30 inches. The "pocket projector" is suitable for different purposes and will sell for less than NT$20,000 per unit in Taiwan. So far, the projector has passed related tests, according to Optoma.

p>Optoma scored aggregate revenue of NT$3.4 billion for the first five months of this year, and sales revenue of NT$690 million for this May, down 5% from a year earlier and up 7% from last May, respectively. The brand said that continuous development of new pocket projectors is expected to drive sales revenue in the future.
