It’s reported that new light bulbs present on University of North Carolina, on campus not only conserve energy but also enhance security.
The new white LED bulbs use a third of the electricity that the old yellow ones used, and the new bulbs last longer so fewer end up in the trash, and also have a better targeted light, increasing night visibility.
Steve Pickard with the university says this is one of many sustainability movements on campus. That one is especially exciting because he do feel he is on the front end of what's coming in the future. As a university need to be on the cutting edge of the technology and the energy savings and the environmental impact.
Besides, the new bulbs are partly in response to a law requiring state buildings to cut energy consumption by 30% by 2015.
