It’s reported that Taiyo Yuden Co Ltd exhibited a high-speed wireless communication system at CEATEC JAPAN 2008. It’s disclosed that utilizes a white LED.

                                                     

With a general-purpose white LED that uses phosphors, Taiyo Yuden Co Ltd noted that the new system has a data transmission speed of 100Mbps, it is capable of a full-duplex (two-way) communication, and its maximum data transmission speed is 100Mbps. The effective data transmission speed is about 90Mbps. The maximum transmission distance is about 20cm. And the system features a 100Mbps Ethernet interface.

The company cited four advantages of the new system: first, its communication path is visible so that users can easily notice the communication; second, its communication is not regulated by any radio law; third, it can use a general-purpose LED; fourth, it does not require a color filter.
