Recently, Lighting Science Group Corporation (LSGC) announced that the Superior Court of California for Sacramento County has issued a preliminary injunction against Philips Solid State Lighting Solutions, Inc., Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V. and Philips Electronics North America Corporation(collectively "Philips"), preventing Philips from using or relying on certain confidential or trade secret information obtained from LSGC.

LSGC, a developer and integrator of intelligent LED lighting solutions, has an office in Rancho Cordova that houses designers, engineers and production workers. Based in New York, the company employs 150 worldwide.

In granting a motion for the preliminary injunction sought by Lighting Science Group, the court found that Lighting Science was “likely to prevail on the merits” of its action pending against Philips. Lighting Science alleged, in a complaint filed in March in Sacramento Superior Court that Philips had misappropriated confidential information and engaged in unfair trade practices.
