Recently, LED lighting startup AHA LED of Taiwan opened its flagship shop in Taipei to build global marketing in light of the huge market potential of LED lighting. The company has reportedly landed US$72 million of orders from South Africa for LED lighting for roads and streets.
The company chairman Y.H. Zhou said many have visited the shop to enquire about roadway lights, streetlights and linear lights for outlining bridges. Also, five-star hotels have dropped in for product information. Zhou pointed out his company plans to open an assemble line in Taiwan in the first quarter next year to meet growing demand. The company will use its mainland Chinese factory to deal with the mainland’s orders and Taiwan factory to handle orders in Taiwan and Southeast Asia.
In addition, the company plans to go public in Hong Kong and Taiwan and has set up a holding company named AHA LED Co., Ltd. in Hong Kong, and production lines in Taiwan and Kunshan, Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen of mainland China.
Zhou suggested that Taiwan government should lead in using energy-saving products so that eco-friendly industries like LED-lighting manufacturing would be motivated especially during a global economic downturn.
