Seoul Semiconductor has announced to replace outdoor lightings of a Senator business center with exclusive solid state light, Acriche. The project has been completed by a Russian lighting expert company Vitrulux Oy.

The historic center, Senator, is located in St. Petersburg is the second large city of Russia. Recently, the building has been transformed with 3,000 of Seoul Semiconductor’s Acriche. The Senator’s spokesman explained Acriche was said to be excellent in control of light features and viewing angle compared to conventional fluorescent lights. Also, he said that while the lifespan of existing fluorescent lightings was less than 10,000 hrs, Acriche lighting fixtures could be operated for over 30,000 hrs. He noted that the lifetime could steeply cut maintenance costs. He also noted that while the existing T5 type of fluorescent lightings consumed 36W, just Acriche lighting fixtures did 20W with 45% of energy savings.

According to Seoul Semiconductor’s technical manager, the existing fluorescent lighting under the temperature of minus 10 ℃ is not functionally proper for its huge reduction in the lumens and lifespan, there was no change in Acriche’s lumens and lifespan under the same weather condition. Therefore, he recommended Acriche as a proper light source for outdoor lightings.

Seoul Semiconductor’s Acriche is AC/DC converterless semiconductor light source driven at AC, differentiated from general DC-driven LEDs requiring converters. This feature enables Acriche to be operated for over 30,000 hrs and provide with solution for the problem in the lifespan of LED shortened by converters with 10,000 to 20,000 hrs of lifespan. So, Acriche maximizes the lifetime-related advantage of LED. Also, Acriche benefits customers by simple and easy design and installation works.

Seoul Semiconductor’s Acriche has been globally acknowledged for its excellent technology. Last December, Seoul Semiconductor’s Acriche has been awarded in Newtech Korea 2008 and named one of the Korea Ten Best New Technologies. Also, it was named “Product of the Year” by Elektronik in 2006.
