Philips Lumileds has joined the California Lighting Technology Center(CLTC) as an affiliate member to co-develop market-ready Luxeon LED-based applications with luminaire manufacturers. These applications need to meet the energy efficiency and lighting quality levels of EnergyStar(r) and other regional and national guidelines.
The affiliation with the CLTC can support the development of specification and architectural grade solutions using the LUXEON Rebel and LUXEON K2 power LEDs, said Jay Shuler, Regional Marketing Manager for The Americas at Philips Lumileds. "By working with the CLTC, our customers will gain access to new opportunities with state agencies, utilities and businesses eager to adopt solid state lighting solutions."
Co-founded by the California Energy Commission (CEC) and University of California at Davis, CLTC both conducts independent activities and also cooperates with lighting manufacturers, electrical utilities and the design and engineering professional communities.
Cree, Illumination Management Solutions, 3M and WalMart are also affiliate members of CLTC. These organizations pay membership dues of between US$10K and US$50K, the sum depending on the length of the contract. These partnerships are also in accordance with the mission of CLTC to bring viable research-based projects to the commercial marketplace in two years or less.
