Luminus Devices, developer and manufacturer of high light output, "Big Chip" PhlatLight LEDs, Wednesday announced it has joined the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), the association of electrical and medical imaging equipment manufacturers founded in 1926. Four hundred and thirty member companies manufacture products used in nine industry divisions including the generation, transmission and distribution, control, and end use of electricity. Worldwide sales of NEMA-scope products exceed $120 billion. Companies manufacturing electrical products in the United States are eligible to join NEMA.

PhlatLight LEDs are used in a variety of lighting applications that require high brightness and efficiency, wide white color palette, high color rendering and very long life. Indoor and outdoor general lighting applications include street lighting, entertainment, architecture, automotive, medical and dental, avionics, manufacturing and machine vision, as well as display and digital signage markets.

"NEMA members are among the most significant electro-industry manufacturers in the world and Luminus is looking forward to becoming active in leading standards establishment, influencing energy related legislation and legislation that impacts emerging technologies. Luminus joins this electrical community and will help lead discussions on critical issues," said Keith T. S. Ward, president & CEO, Luminus Devices. "We also look forward to participating in NEMA’s enLIGHTen America initiative, which is aggressively promoting sustainability and energy-savings through the application of the latest technologies in lighting."
