CES 2025 opened on January 7 in Las Vegas, United States, drawing over 3,600 exhibitors to unveil the latest technological developments. This year’s event showcases innovations in Micro and Mini LED displays, with applications ranging from TVs and screens to AR glasses, automotive displays, and beauty mirrors.
Micro/Mini LED TVs and Displays
Micro and Mini LED displays, a staple of CES, have seen significant upgrades this year. Manufacturers debuted high-end, novel products that inject fresh energy into the industry.
1. TVs
Samsung has introduced its latest Lifestyle TVs, including updates to The Frame and the new high-end model, The Frame Pro. While The Frame features a QLED panel, The Frame Pro steps up with a Mini LED-backlit QLED panel.
Both models are equipped with 4K resolution displays, but The Frame Pro stands out with Samsung’s NQ4 Gen3 AI processor. This powerhouse upscales lower-resolution content to 4K and enhances audio quality using AI-powered optimization.

Samsung also unveiled a bezel-less transparent Micro LED TV. When turned off, the display achieves almost glass-like transparency, seamlessly blending into any environment.
TCL’s QM6K Mini LED TV features over 500 dimming zones, a 144Hz refresh rate, and a game accelerator mode that ramps up to an impressive 288Hz variable refresh rate (VRR). The TV incorporates a bi-directional 23-bit backlight controller with 65,000 brightness levels for precise lighting control, reducing halo effects and enhancing image quality. An anti-glare coating minimizes reflections to protect users’ eyes, along with the built-in Onkyo 2.1 sound system.

Hisense launched its first consumer Micro LED TV, the 136MX. Packed with over 24.88 million densely arranged Micro LEDs, it achieves an astounding 10,000 nits brightness, supports a 120Hz frame rate, and covers 95% of the BT.2020 color gamut.

The company also showcased its groundbreaking 116-inch Mini LED TV engineered with the RGB three-dimensional color control liquid crystal technology, which is currently the largest of its kind. Powered by Hisense’s next-gen AI image processing chip (called “Xinxin”), it is set for mass production in March.

Panasonic revealed its W95B Mini LED TV, available in 55, 65, 75, and 85 inches. All models support 4K resolution with a 144Hz refresh rate.

2. Displays
Samsung Display wowed CES 2025 attendees with its ingenious stretchable Micro LED display, offering glasses-free 3D effects. Two demos were presented: one showcasing Las Vegas’s Sphere venue and another featuring a shark animation that seemed ready to leap through the glass.

Hisense showcased a transparent Micro LED display built with micron-scale Micro LED chips, achieving over 60% transmittance and an ultra-wide viewing angle.

Innolux introduced the industry’s first color-conversion 106-inch AM-Micro LED Free Splicing Display Module. With a pixel pitch of ≤P0.6mm, this modular system supports seamless customization from 12.3 inches up to a massive 220 inches.
In addition, the company unveiled its latest outdoor Mini LED displays, available in 17.3 and 23.8 inches. Featuring high-efficiency LED matrix technology, these models deliver outdoor visibility, low power consumption, high brightness, excellent contrast, and a wide color gamut.

BOE debuted its 31.5-inch 4K glass-based AM Mini LED display with 4,608 backlights and 1,152 dimming zones for precise lighting control. The monitor boasts a million-to-one contrast ratio, 1,000 nits peak brightness, 144Hz refresh rate, and 99% DCI-P3 color coverage.

GIS revealed its Mini LED touchscreen module for ultra-large displays up to 1.5 meters diagonally. Engineered with Mini LED backlighting, it delivers superior contrast, brightness, and energy efficiency compared to conventional LCD backlights.
MSI’s new MPG 274URDFW E16M monitor features a 27-inch Fast IPS Mini LED-backlit panel with 1,152 dimming zones. The model excels at showcasing HDR content, delivering exceptional detail in dark scenes.

3. Laptops
MECHREVO introduced its first laptop featuring the suffix “Ultra,” equipped with a Mini LED display.

Acer unveiled the Helios 18 AI laptop, equipped with a 2560x1600 resolution Mini LED screen. The display supports a 120Hz refresh rate, 1,000 nits brightness, and dual-mode switching between 4K at 120Hz and Full HD at 240Hz.

Micro LEDs for Microdisplays
At CES 2025, exhibitors showcased their Micro LED displays for smartwatches as well as innovative offerings such as Micro LED AR glasses.
Samsung Display showcased a 2.1-inch Micro LED screen designed for smartwatches, boasting 4,000 nits brightness and a 418 x 540 resolution. Ideal for outdoor use, this display is expected to feature in the next-gen Galaxy Watch Ultra.

Thunderbird launched the V3 AI glasses, priced at 1,799 yuan (approximately $245). This cutting-edge wearable features a full-color Micro LED optical engine, high-quality imaging, precise AI, premium audio, and a comfortable design. It also incorporates the Falcon Imaging System and exclusive technologies from Tongyi’s AI model.

Sitan Technology showcased its expertise in AR, automotive, and projection solutions, unveiling a range of Micro LED display modules, including a 0.13-inch module, a 0.2-inch module, a 0.2-inch white display module, and a 0.45-inch monitor module.

Automotive Micro/Mini LED Displays
Micro and Mini LED displays for cars were another key focus during the event, with Samsung, AUO, Innolux, and others showcasing their latest innovations
Harman International, a wholly owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, unveiled its automotive Neo QLED display. Equipped with Mini LED backlighting and local dimming zones, the display delivers enhanced brightness and minimizes halo effects around bright objects, achieving near-perfect black levels. The adopted quantum dot technology further enriches color reproduction.

AUO introduced its Virtual Sky Canopy, featuring a large Micro LED sunroof display that integrates with side windows to create a theater-like surround effect. The sunroof and side windows in this solution support adjustable transparency, enabling an immersive in-car entertainment experience while ensuring privacy, safety, and sun-shading functionality.

AUO also presented its Foldable Cruise Pilot, a Micro LED dashboard display that expands fully in autonomous driving mode, supporting multimedia applications like video streaming, shopping, and conferencing. Additionally, its Morphing Central Control showcases the stretchable capabilities of Micro LED technology.

BOE and subsidiary BOE Varitronix unveiled a PHUD intelligent cockpit with a 44.8-inch panoramic head-up display. Incorporating advanced oxide technology and Mini LED backlights with 2,850 dimming zones, it features an ultra-high 9K resolution, 7,000 nits peak brightness (10% area), and a million-to-one contrast ratio.

Tianma showcased its innovative interior display lineup, including center console, co-pilot, and armrest displays. These solutions leverage invisiVue hidden display technology combined with Mini LED backlighting and TED (touch embedded display) innovations, offering textured and responsive touch. Additionally, they allow displays to be hidden and visible, smartly improving driver experiences. The company also highlighted its transparent Micro LED display solutions.
Canadian Micro LED developer VueReal debuted design reference kits aimed at simplifying product development across the automotive, AR, consumer electronics, and lighting sectors. These kits enable companies to bring Micro LED-based products to market faster and more cost-effectively.

Innovative Micro LED Applications
At CES 2025, Micro LED technology showcased diverse and groundbreaking applications. Highlights included Samsung’s Micro LED Beauty Mirror and Innolux’s Smart Mirror Display.
Samsung partnered with Amorepacific to launch the Micro LED Beauty Mirror, featuring a 21-inch Micro LED panel with high reflectance and transmittance. Beyond serving as an ordinary mirror, it provides information such as weather updates and to-do lists. Utilizing AI algorithms, the system evaluates the user’s skin characteristics in just 30 seconds and offers personalized skincare recommendations.

Innolux unveiled its first 9.6-inch Micro LED Smart Mirror Display, boasting 1,200 nits brightness, a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, NTSC 120% color gamut, high reflectance, and exceptional energy efficiency.
