Violumas, the UV division of Cofan Group, specializes in a full-service UV LED product portfolio and solutions. Thanks to the integrated thermal structure (3-PAD) in the Flip Chip LED and the Metal Core PCB, Violumas LEDs achieve rapid thermal dissipation and lower thermal resistance. Since UV-C LEDs generate significant heat and require substantial cooling solutions, this technology is crucial for developing more reliable, compact, and long-lasting UV-C LED systems.
TrendForce was honored to conduct a phone interview with Saya Han from Violumas, who shared valuable insights into the UV LED market outlook and discussed the company's latest product releases at Photonics West 2025.
Han indicated that Violumas is dedicated to meet customer requirements and explores innovative market opportunities by leveraging strong customer support, product advantages, group resources, and extensive experience in industry-specific customization.
The market demand for UV-A LEDs continues to grow across various applications, including life sciences, bioanalysis, spectroscopy, medical technology, and bio-sensing. In response to this demand, Violumas offers 340nm and 325nm UV-A LEDs, along with multi-wavelength solutions. At Photonics West 2025, the optical power of the 340nm 5252 LED was successfully increased to 210mW. Meanwhile, a 255nm UV-C LED was also introduced at Photonics West 2025, 5252 LED with 51mW, marking a significant milestone in the UV-C LED industry. Additionally, SMD and 1×1 / 2×2 COB configurations with beam angles of 30°, 60°, 90°, and 120° have been developed for the market. In addition, the company also announced an ultra-narrow beam 10∘high power UV LED for collimation, focused illumination, and fiber coupling UV-B and UV-C applications.
Han mentioned that the company has received several projects in applications such as water disinfection (faucets, purifiers), device disinfection and sterilization, and fiber optic applications (curing and spectroscopy). In response to market demand, Violumas successfully showcased its 275nm 130mW UV-C LEDs at Photonics West 2025. Following the same product strategy, SMD and 2×2 / 3×3 / 4×4 COB configurations with beam angles of 30°, 60°, 90°, and 120° have been developed for the market. A version with a 10° beam angle is currently under development, particularly for faucet water disinfection.
Han indicated that the company has several business activities in 2025, including plans to release a 265nm 145mW UV-C LED in 3Q25 and attend WEFTEC 2025 in Chicago. With the continual development of high-performance UV-C LEDs, Violumas aims to accelerate industry adoption by providing a wide variety of products suitable for the applications mentioned above.
