[News] iReach Raises US$10.8 Million to Expand High-Speed Optical Communications Business

2026-10-08 06: 50

iReach Corporation, a specialist in Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) technology, today announced that it has raised US$10.8 million in a new funding round. The round was led by Darwin Venture Management, with participation from Taiwan’s National Development Fund and strategic investors from the optical communications sector. The new funding will accelerate the development of iReach’s core wafer-bonded flip-chip VCSEL technology for high-speed optical communications and advanced sensing, while supporting the company’s expansion from sensing into applications in AI infrastructure and silicon photonics.

Over 1 Billion Units Shipped: Expanding from Sensing and Healthcare into High-Speed Interconnects
Since its founding in 2018, iReach has built end-to-end, in-house R&D capabilities spanning epitaxial structure design, chip design, and system-level product integration. To date, the company has shipped more than 1 billion VCSEL units globally and has recently expanded into advanced applications such as wearable photobiomodulation (PBM) and AI smart glasses.

With generative AI and high-performance computing (HPC) driving increasing data bandwidth requirements, conventional copper interconnects are increasingly running into physical limits across bandwidth, power consumption, and reach. In response, iReach is ramping up development across high-speed VCSEL arrays, Micro VCSEL arrays, wafer-level integration, and advanced packaging. In the second half of this year, iReach began working with industry partners to advance the scaling of Micro VCSELs, drawing on its manufacturing expertise in miniaturized optical devices for high-speed optical communications applications.

Strengthening the Ecosystem to Commercialize VCSEL Technology
As AI reshapes computing architectures, high-speed optical communications are shifting from individual components toward system-level integration—a transition that requires laser sources and optical systems to be integrated with silicon-based components through advanced packaging. With the newly secured capital, iReach plans to strengthen its core R&D capabilities, build stronger partnerships across the supply chain, and accelerate the commercialization of next-generation products while recruiting engineering talent to bring these innovations to market.
